I was hired by the lovely Jo Jo from LJ Chinese restaurant in Fareham to be there    New Year Magician and perform table magic for her guests celebrating the New Year.

It was a full house so the there was a great atmosphere and loads of good food and  Magical entertainment.

Jo Jo emailed the other day saying, ‘ Thank you very much for your performance last night. It really enhanced the whole evening. I am very sure you will be coming back very soon. Everyone (including myself) enjoyed the evening; especially your magic’.

Anyone for barbequed hands?

Magic gets me to visit some interesting places and meet fascinating people. I love the above photo wiich was caught just at the right moment by photograher Keith at Studio Rouge.

From the private residence in Ascot, where I performed for a family group New Years Eve. Ruth, the lovely host for the evening emailed later saying, ‘Your ‘entertainment’ really was magical in every sense of the word and we are still talking about you and your ‘tricks’, to the Majestic Mercure Castle Hotel in Windsor where I did  for an evening recently.

Magic can even wisk you off to the wilds of Maids Moreton in Buckingham where I had the opportunity to meet some fine young people at a 21st birthday bash. I fortunately got in there before the drinking games began! Ross the booker, said to me, ‘Everyone enjoyed the magic and from talking to people afterwards, it sounds like you may pick up some more work’. That’s how it works most of the time to be honest, word of mouth.

I am bringing my Mentalism Show, Reality Vaccine to the SouthStreet Arts Centre Theatre on the evening of Friday the 27th of January 2012. Mentalism is a fusion of magic, suggestion, psychology and body language reading. The evening will start with close up magic by amazing colleagues of mine at 7pm followed by the show at 8pm.

This Christmas has allowed me to perform in lots of interesting places from the Stand Up show I did at Bourne End Commuinty Centre (above pic) to Reading where again I performed Close Up magic at the Hilton Hotel for RSSL, to slighly further afield at the beautiful Brooklands hotel in Weybridge, who very kindly fed me the most delicious burger I have ever eaten. Mmmm..magic makes me hungry! There I performed for MLL Telcom who were very responsive to the magic.

Balls Brothers Bar in North Bank London

I performed at the above bar in London for some newly qualified barristers…I made certain not to attempt to steal their watches! I even ended up in Olney Bedfordshire performing a stand up show for the NHS. They were great fun and I had a message from the booker Hazeera a couple of days later, ‘Thank you so much for entertaining me and my colleagues today. You really made them smile and you even got our resident Grinch to cheer up! Having something like this to end the year was definitely worth doing and we all appreciated the fun and how simple you made it look. I will certainly recommend you and happy to send a testimonial.’

Come on baby light my fire..

Just last night I did a gig for William and Son founded by Williamm Asprey. He happened to be there and even threatened to get his ‘doorman’ to do me a bit of damage should I not return his finger ring! He was kidding of course…I think! There were several of the the media there and some well known celebrities too. I performed quite a bit of magic for Theo Paphitis from the Dragon’s Den. He has a great sense of humour and happens to rather like magic. ‘Really fantastic..how the heck did you do that!’, he exclaimed. Hey, that’s two Dragons I’ve ‘slain’ with conjouring over the years!. Peter Jones was the first several years back.

This the closest to me - Harleyford Golf Club Estate where I recently performed close up magic and a stand up piece.

I have also performed a number of occasions at the nearby Danesfield House Hotel. Just recently I performed for a 7oth birthday party. The room was elegantly decorated by Robin at the amazing Discos Plus and the photograph below taken by the talented Tom Cranmer.

Just over the bridge is the amazing Compleat Angler Hotel . I have done several gigs there, a number of weddings but a more recent corporate one was for RSM Tenon.

Sharon Spiller who kindly booked me, sent me an email the next week saying, ‘We were all thoroughly intrigued by the magic, thank you for entertaining us all.’

Magic can be performed for many different themes. This week was Halloween and so I was asked to perform at a stunning venue in Chelsea where the entire house was redecorated for Halloween, including ghostly figures appearing in the mist out in the garden, howling ghoulish music, and even the food made to look like various human body parts!

clare and Joe at Bearwood Lakes

Clare and Joe hired me to be there Wedding Magician for the wedding reception period where everyone has a drink prior to the meal. It is the perfect time for entertainment as people may not know eachother and there is a lot of still time, when photographs are taking place and guests are being greeted. It was held at the rather stunning Bearwood  Lakes Golf Club in Sindlesham, Wokingham? When I arrived the weather was miserable and wet and I saw golfers scuttling for cover. When the guests arrived and finally the couple, suddenly the weather changed, and it turned absolutely georgeous! Perfect for the photographs which were taken by  Shawn and Laura Purslow at Purson Photography.

They sent me an email later saying, ‘We had such an amazing day – thank you so much for being there to entertain everybody, all our friends and family enjoyed it so much and kept coming to ask us how the tricks were done, as if we knew?!! It was a really lovely addition to the day and were really glad we chose you’.

Paul and Janice Homer held their 40th wedding anniversary at the Temple Golf Club in Hurley, Berkshire. The views from the dining area were exceptional and the comapny a load of fun! I received this message later that week, ‘Ian, we were delighted that you were professional, reliable and very entertaining. Thank you!’

Firstly David Edwards booked me to perform for his wife Sereen’s 50th Birthday at Temple Golf Club.

They had a lovely band with a singer named Sally and that together with some close up magic and a sunny day made it a perfect day. David emailed later: ‘We had a great day and everyone we spoke to really enjoyed watching you before and during dinner. Many thanks for helping to make it a most memorable evening.’

I do like it when bookings are close to home. Rolling out of bed and taking 10 steps to perform is a delight and I could do this for Harleyford Golf Club which held there annual Golf Function there and I performed Table magic and then closed with a Stand Up piece.

They were a super fun crowd. One day I will definitely take up golf, even just to join such great social occasions!

I had a message from the club later on in the week, ‘ Thank you for your performance the other night. We had a of very positive feedback, everybody had a great time and some said why did we bother with a disco, they would have preferred for you to carry on so we must consider this for furture parties’.
