Angling for Magic in Marlow

Angling for Magic in Marlow

If you have ever had the opportunity to visit my pretty part of the world here in Marlow Buckinghamshire, you may pass a Hotel called  The Compleat Angler near the bridge. It is a classic 400 year old English County House Hotel right on the Thames River. I perfomed at Mr Mumford’s wedding there earlier this year and shall be back  there again soon. Its not only close to where I live making it very convenient for me, but also the staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

Magical Birthday at the Dorchester

Magical Birthday at the Dorchester

At the beginning of the month I was asked to entertain at a very nice lad’s 19th birthday party at the The Dorchester Hotel in London. There wasn’t a huge crowd, a cozy group of Ben’s friends so I managed to do some Parlour Mentalism which as you can see from the photo, went down a treat. The photo was taken by the really patient and expert eye of photographer Jan Kozolnicky, who spent the entire evening with the group taking endless photos. He and I had some interesting conversations, about health in particular -  he being a Yoga expert and I teach Tai Chi.

Being a big fan of Strictly Come Dancing, a huge pleasure was meeting the very amusing Anton Du Beke outside the dining area, and doing a quick tango step and introducing myself to Anton, he replied, ‘Great steps’! Yeah, but you should see my magic Anton!

Batmitzvah in Edgeware

Batmitzvah in Edgeware

Bar Mitzvah (for the young men) and Bat Mitzvah’s (for the young ladies), is a very important time in the Jewish community when they come of age. I felt very honoured to perform at the Emma Green’s daughters ceremony in March at the Aviv Restaurant in Edgeware Road, London. The celebration was a challenge for me because the guests were varied, from young children to teenagers to senior adults. It required quite a variation in magical effects. The magic consisted of table magic during dinner followed by a cabaret act. Emma’s friends and family were such a welcoming and friendly crowd that I had no need to be concerned.

The picture above was taken at the event by the talented and charming photographer Leah Dickinson.

Heritage Motor Museum

Myself and a good friend of mine and very talented award winning close up magician, Simon Alexander, were the performers at the Heritage Motor Centre for the RAC Ambassador Awards. It was a magical venue to entertain at as it was full of gems, such as the  JCB Dieselmax shown in the picture. Another of my favourites was  Lady Penelope’s car in the flim Thunderbirds and I did have Simon take a photo of me in it, but to tell the truth, I don’t look good in pink!
