Ssssneaky magic in Chelsea

Couple of saturdays ago I was the strolling magician at a party in Chelsea. A number of ‘acts’ were booked including human statues, a belly dancer, caricaturis, pianist and whopping great boa constrictors like the one in the photo. I can’t say I am happy about any animals being paraded around in smoke filled loud atmospheres but it did cause quite a slithering reaction from many of the guests. Beautiful creatures arn’t they? The snake isn’t too bad either!

Home Counties Magic Championship

Last thursday, the 19th, I entered the Home Counties Magic Competition and won! I was awarded the Paul Pearman Cup for the Most Entertaining Magical Act. The contestants had 12-15 minutes to perform and I performed Close up magic followed by Mentalism.

Awarding the Cup to me was the President of the Home Counties Magical Society, Simon Williams. The picture above was kindly taken by Andrew Web.

Totally Shambles in Teddington

This photograph of myself and guests appeared in a the February edition of Totally Magazine in Richmond. It was a gig that took place recently at the Shambles Bar and Restaurant in Teddington - London. They were celebrating 25 years of first class restaurant service in Teddington. I’m not surprised they have done so well because they were such nice owners, the ambiance was great, food looked good and they treated guests and friends to magic and Belly dancing. I did the magic by the way - not the belly dancing!

Alien invasion in Beaconsfield

Monday, March 9th, 2009

This lovely looking fella from the film Mars Attacks, shared my changing room for a party at Stephen Lane’s stunning home in Beaconsfield last saturday evening, where Stephen was holding a magical birthday party. I did some strolling magic and a cabaret. Best part was the opportunity to see Stephen’s unbelievable display of  Movie props. From outta space outfits used in the film Alien to Harrison Ford’s  leather Jacket in ‘Temple of Doom’.  His display of Star Wars  memorabilia was awesome too with a light sabre belonging to one of the original Jedi’s!

I had a great evening entertaining his guests, but escaped before the Karaoke, which I understand went on to 4 am! Looks like the Alien was singing along, but certainly wouldn’t have been a Country and Western song, which I remember destroyed them all in the movie!

Blackpool and the Psychic Buster
Blackpool and the Psychic Buster

For those of you who don’t know, Blackpool in February brings out wizards from all parts of the globe for the biggest Magic Convention in the World! This year was amazing from the point of view of the calibre of magicians participating. We even had David Blaine flitting in and out irregularly, however, my favourite was James Randi (see in the pic with me), who, at 80 odd years old is incredibly lucid, witty and very intelligent. He  has dedicated his life to ‘guru’ or psychic busting. He offers 2 million dollars to anyone who can prove they have psychic power, and he has never lost any of it. I had the tremendous honour of sitting and having a chat with this great thinker.

Other famous magicians there were Daryl, Danial Garcia , Jeff Mcbride and Rudy Coby.
